Lab overview

  • Objective
    • Electron Microscopy facility hosts an advanced suite of electron microscopy equipment.
    • Facility users have access to advanced sample preparation facilities including microtome, polishing and ion milling systems.
  • R&D Support Roles
    • Electron Microscopes Core Lab team provides hands-on trainings for students and researchers new to electron microscopy. Following trainings are available:
      • Scanning Electron Microscopy: Basic SEM, Environmental SEM, High resolution SEM, EDX, EBSD, FIB
      • Transmission Electron Microscopy: Basic TEM, Diffraction, Scanning TEM, STEM-EDX, STEM-EELS, HR-TEM
    • Technical support and guidance are provided to certified users.

Lab rules:

  • Only authorized people can get inside the room.
  • Expert users can get afterhours access to the room after being approved by the custodian and the director of research laboratories.
  • No food, no drink allowed inside the room.
  • Not a sample preparation room. Samples are ready to be loaded inside any of the machines.

Equipment rules:

  • Do not touch to any machine unless instructed by the custodian.
  • Do not touch to any part of the machine that has not been mentioned during the training session.
  • Do not touch or use any equipment that is under maintenance.
  • Do not touch or use any equipment that has an opened part.
  • Do not go behind any equipment.

Trained and certified users can access equipment from 8:30am to 5pm, Monday till Thursday, and 8.30am to 12.30pm on Fridays.

Expert users can access equipment 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
