The mission of the Research Laboratories Department is to establish and continually evolve physical research infrastructure and policies that support the primary research aims of the University, striving for high productivity using a fixed cost model while providing a value based template to justify expansion of capabilities.
The objective of the Research Laboratories Department is to provide an environment for increased alignment with KU’s research priorities by supporting the research activities of the research centers as well as individual researchers.
The approach of the Research Laboratories Department is to:
- Focus on building communities and infrastructure
- Provide clear separation of fixed cost versus project costs
- Provide for both needs driven and strategic expansion
- Foster collaboration and industry partnerships to grow capabilities
- Aggregate and push information to our user base
