Spartan Sampling Station

DESCRIPTION

Air quality measurement. The SPARTA? Network (https://www.spartan-network.org) has been established to address the current gaps in knowledge of global PM2.5 concentrations. It provides publicly available data on PM2.5 mass, chemical composition, and optical characteristics for connection with satellite remote sensing and for air quality management.

Fog Monitor FM-120

DESCRIPTION

The Fog Monitor (FM-120) is an all-weather
optical spectrometer that continuously samples
droplet-laden ambient air. It measures particles
in the 2 - 50 ?m range.
The FM-120 is popular on fog monitoring towers,
for characterizing droplets in visibility studies,
and for evaluation of the super-cooled droplets
that lead to highway and power-line icing

Microwave Radiometer

DESCRIPTION

A microwave radiometer (MWR) is a radiometer that measures energy emitted at one millimeter-to-metre wavelengths (frequencies of 0.3–300 GHz) known as microwaves. Microwave radiometers are very sensitive receivers designed to measure thermally-emitted electromagnetic radiation. They are usually equipped with multiple receiving channels to derive the characteristic emission spectrum of planetary atmospheres, surfaces or extraterrestrial objects. Microwave radiometers are utilized in a variety of environmental and engineering applications, including remote sensing, weather forecasting, climate monitoring, radio astronomy and radio propagation studies.

100kWth Hot Oil loop

DESCRIPTION

A hot oil-loop has been designed and instrumented to perform research and test TES systems under real solar radiation conditions. Synthetic oil, Dowtherm A, is used as HTF to collect the thermal energy using an electrical heater, 100 kWth power capacity, to reach a maximal temperature of 393°C. The electric heater enables solar receiver output of any real or hypothetical CSP plant and climate to be reproduced. The purpose of the oil loop is to control oil flow and temperature, and measure the efficiency of the TES during the charge and the discharge phases.

Lidar Ceilometer CL61

DESCRIPTION

Redefining cloud measurement with the most comprehensive insights in the industry. CL61 is a high-performance light detection and ranging (LiDAR) instrument with depolarization measurement capable of unattended operation in all conditions. In addition to basic ceilometer reporting, the CL61 offers depolarization measurement that enables differentiation between solid, liquid, or mixed-phase clouds and precipitation, providing ready-to-use information for atmospheric characterization
